After the talks with Roncevic, Portuguese minister said his country, as a NATO and European Union member, would like to help Croatia to enter the Alliance and the Union very soon.
Accordingly, Portugal intends to strengthen the relations with Croatia in the defence sector and support Zagreb in its efforts to become a stability factor in the region.
The first step will be the arrival of the Portuguese training ship Segres, which will enter Croatian territorial waters tomorrow, Cabral Portas said.
Thanking his Portuguese counterpart for Lisbon's support, Roncevic announced that Croatian defence ministry officials would visit the Portuguese ship on Tuesday and hold talks with Portuguese representatives on the organisation of the coast guard and the navy.
He also announced that Croatia would send its military envoy to Portugal this autumn.
