Late last week the government's commissioner for the southern coastal town of Metkovic, Ivica Vidovic, pressed charges with the local police against Gabric, accusing him of a series of economic crimes.
Given that Gabric was in Montenegro at the time, the police issued a search warrant. He returned to Croatia on Sunday, reporting the next day to the Dubrovnik County Court investigating judge who let him go after a two-hour interview.
The judge rejected the county state prosecution's request to set detention for Gabric so that he could not influence witnesses and obstruct the collecting of evidence.
The county state prosecution appealed the judge's decision to let Gabric go yesterday.
