BERLIN/FRANKFURT, Aug 18 (Hina) - A man arrested in Germany on Tuesdayon suspicion that he gave false tip-offs about bombs on CroatianAirlines planes flying from Zagreb to Frankfurt on Sunday and Mondayhas admitted to being
responsible in both cases, the stateprosecutor's office in Frankfurt said in a statement on Wednesday.
BERLIN/FRANKFURT, Aug 18 (Hina) - A man arrested in Germany on
Tuesday on suspicion that he gave false tip-offs about bombs on Croatian
Airlines planes flying from Zagreb to Frankfurt on Sunday and Monday has
admitted to being responsible in both cases, the state prosecutor's office in
Frankfurt said in a statement on Wednesday.According to available information, the state prosecutor's office sees
no terrorist background to the threats. After being interrogated yesterday, the
suspect was released.
State prosecutor Doris Moeller Scheu said the suspect was Turkish
national holding a dual Croatian-Turkish citizenship who resided in Frankfurt.
The state prosecutor's office is considering the possibility of referring him
to a psychiatric institution given that during interrogation he appeared
"psychically unstable," read the statement.
Under German law, persons responsible for false bomb tip-offs may be
imprisoned for up to three years.
