RIJEKA, Aug 16 (Hina) - The head of the Croatian Interior Ministry'sDepartment of Narcotics, Darko Dundovic, told a news conference onMonday that by arresting 200 visitors of the electronic music festivalin Grobnik near Rijeka in the
night between August 14 and 15, thepolice wanted to send a message to young people not to take drugs,stressing that the police would do the same at similar gatherings.
RIJEKA, Aug 16 (Hina) - The head of the Croatian Interior Ministry's
Department of Narcotics, Darko Dundovic, told a news conference on Monday that
by arresting 200 visitors of the electronic music festival in Grobnik near
Rijeka in the night between August 14 and 15, the police wanted to send a
message to young people not to take drugs, stressing that the police would do
the same at similar gatherings.The police arrested 130 foreign citizens and 97 Croatians at the MTV
Valkana Beach festival for possessing drugs or planning to sell it, the head of
the Primorje-Gorski Kotar narcotics department, Bozo Barbaric said.
All arrested foreign citizens were taken before the Petty Offence Court
in Rijeka where they were given fines in the amount of between 5,000 and 20,000
kuna. Charges will be pressed against them as well as against all arrested
Croatian citizens.
