ZAGREB, Aug 13 (Hina) - One of the most renowned U.S. film critics,Kenneth Turan, has described Croatian director Vinko Bresan's film"Witnesses" as a controversial, riveting and perhaps the best film todeal with the war in former Yugoslavia.
ZAGREB, Aug 13 (Hina) - One of the most renowned U.S. film critics, Kenneth Turan, has described Croatian director Vinko Bresan's film "Witnesses" as a controversial, riveting and perhaps the best film to deal with the war in former Yugoslavia.

The assessment was made in the Los Angeles Times of August 8, which carried a feature by Turan about the Dubrovnik Film Festival. Turan said the local premiere of Bresan's film was one of the most important events of the Croatian festival.

Tauran's feature includes an extensive interview with Bresan.

The Los Angeles Times' review is the latest in a series of rave reviews Bresan's film has already received in the New York Times, Variety and the Hollywood Reporter.

The European Film Academy has recently named "Witnesses" one of the year's best European films.
