ZAGREB, Aug 9 (Hina) - The European Film Academy's (EFA) executive
committee has included Croatian director Vinko Bresan's film "Svjedoci"
(Witnesses) among the 40 best European films of 2004.
Producer Ivan Maloca was notified on Monday that Bresan's film is a
nomination candidate in the categories for best film, best direction, best
actor, best actress, best screenplay, and best cinematography, according to
Interfilm-press, one of the film's production companies.
The list of the 40 best European films of the year will be published on
September 15, while the nominations, to be decided on by 1,300 film artists and
experts from Europe, will be made public in November, four weeks before the
award ceremony, scheduled to take place in Barcelona on December 11.
Bresan's film is the first Croatian film after the country gained
independence in the early 1990s to be included in the list of Europe's 40 best
films of the year.
