THE HAGUE, July 29 (Hina) - The Appeals Chamber of the InternationalCriminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on Thursday cutformer Bosnian Croat General Tihomir Blaskic's 45-year jail sentenceto nine years, clearing him of a
bulk of charges linked to ethniccleansing in the Bosnian war. The president of the International CriminalTribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Theodor Meron, on Thursdaygranted a defence request that former Bosnian Croat military commanderTihomir Blaskic be released before serving out his entire sentence. Tihomir Blaskic's defence attorney, AntoNobilo, said on Thursday, after the ICTY Appeals Chamber decided toreduce his client's prison term from 45 to 9 years, that the broadermeaning of the decision was that it redefined command responsibility.
