the long term, Deputy European Integration Minister Tamara Obradovic said on Friday in her keynote speech at an international seminar on the impact of admission to the European Union on the legal system of candidate countries.
ZAGREB, May 14 (Hina) - Reforms carried out by candidates for European
Union membership imply considerable state funds to be invested for
this purpose in the first stage, but all of this will be to the
benefit of citizens in the long term, Deputy European Integration
Minister Tamara Obradovic said on Friday in her keynote speech at an
international seminar on the impact of admission to the European Union
on the legal system of candidate countries.#L#
The seminar, organised by the Zagreb Law School and the Hague-based
Asser Institute, was the second event of this kind to be held as part
of a project of the Dutch Foreign Ministry whose aim is to help
aspirants to be better prepared for EU entry. The project MATRA covers
Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey and Serbia-Montenegro, as well as
Slovenia which joined the EU on May 1 this year.
