HSP AND HOS REPRESENTATIVES LAY WREATHS AT PIT OF JAZOVKA

SOSICE, May 8 (Hina) - The Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) and representatives of the Association of Croatian Volunteers in the Homeland Defence War (HOS) placed wreaths on a memorial plaque near the pit of Jazovka at Sosice (western Croatia), in memory to dead soldiers of the Ustasha and Domobran (Home-Guard) units whom the Partisans threw in that pit in May 1945.
SOSICE, May 8 (Hina) - The Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) and representatives of the Association of Croatian Volunteers in the Homeland Defence War (HOS) placed wreaths on a memorial plaque near the pit of Jazovka at Sosice (western Croatia), in memory to dead soldiers of the Ustasha and Domobran (Home-Guard) units whom the Partisans threw in that pit in May 1945.#L# HSP leader Anto Djapic said that his party was planning to introduce the tradition of paying tribute to all victims killed in the wake of the Second World War on Mother's Day (the second Sunday in May). He announced that through contacts with other parties and associations he would try to form an above-party committee for organising annual commemorations to the victims of the Way of Cross (the victims from the defeated units while they withdrew from the then Yugoslavia towards the western Europe in May and June 1945). Djapic believes that 22 June, which has been in recent years marked as the day for paying tribute to the victims killed in the wake of the Second World War, is inappropriate as on this day Croatia marks Day of Anti-Fascist Struggle. The leader of the opposition right-wing party compared the victims from the pit of Jazovka and other mass graves in May 1945 with the victims of the 1991 massacre on the Ovcara farm (outside Vukovar), saying that they made single sacrifice for the establishment of the Croatian state which must not be forgotten. A Catholic priest, military chaplain Dinko Maslac, said Mass for the dead. (Hina) ms
