Friday that it was necessary to promote ethical standards for the media and the transparency of business operations of newspaper publishers.

conference on the Croatian media that ended in the northern Adriatic
resort town of Opatija on Friday that it was necessary to promote
ethical standards for the media and the transparency of business
operations of newspaper publishers.#L#
Participants in the conference heard that establishing this kind of a
self-regulatory system was a precondition for improving the quality of
the media as a public service and consolidating media independence,
and that it would also help in adjusting the media sector to European
standards.
The event was organised by the International Centre for the Education
of Journalists (ICEJ) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
