ZAGREB, May 2 (Hina) - The Croatian-Montenegrin Council issued a statement on Sunday following an incident that occurred a few days ago when graffiti were sprayed on the Catholic Church of St Matthew in the Montenegrin coastal town of Kotor saying "This Church Should Be Burnt" and "This Is Serbia".
ZAGREB, May 2 (Hina) - The Croatian-Montenegrin Council issued a statement on Sunday following an incident that occurred a few days ago when graffiti were sprayed on the Catholic Church of St Matthew in the Montenegrin coastal town of Kotor saying "This Church Should Be Burnt" and "This Is Serbia".#L# The statement, signed by council chairman and film director Veljko Bulajic, condemned the incident as "barbaric" and "provocative" and the graffiti as "hate speak used by chauvinist forces inaugurated in the past decade". It said that the council had received some 40 letters, telegrams and messages from residents of Tivat, Kotor, Dubrovnik, Risan, Cetinje, Konavle and Herceg-Novi expressing their support to the council and a desire for dialogue and cooperation between the two countries to continue at local and national levels. "Croatia and Montenegro are an example of two countries seeking to resolve their problems of today through good neighbourly relations based on partnership," the statement said, adding that their good relations were "an example to all countries in the region".
