ZAGREB, April 21 (Hina) - The Croatian Journalists Union (SNH) commissioner in Slobodna Dalmacija daily, Ljubica Vuko, on Wednesday urged the government to take a decision on the privatisation of the daily, stating that its employees did not want to end up in the street.
ZAGREB, April 21 (Hina) - The Croatian Journalists Union (SNH) commissioner in Slobodna Dalmacija daily, Ljubica Vuko, on Wednesday urged the government to take a decision on the privatisation of the daily, stating that its employees did not want to end up in the street.#L# Vuko was speaking at a news conference which was held instead of the round table discussion "Slobodna Dalmacija in Light of New Media Law", which was organised by SNH and Croatian Journalists' Association (HND) branches in Slobodna Dalmacija, but did not take place as nobody from the government, the Privatisation Fund and the OSCE Mission to Croatia showed up. Reporters were told that the daily had no future without urgent privatisation and investments in new equipment and technology. Asked whether they supported the bid of the Europapress Holding publishing company, representatives of the Split-based daily said they were not in favour of any bid, but Europapress Holding was the only bidder meeting all conditions from the tender, including guarantees of development and promises to keep all 700 present workers and employ new ones.
