ZAGREB, April 10 (Hina) - In its Saturday issue, the Split-based Slobodna Dalmacija daily published a copy of what it called a "secret" document corroborating its earlier report that the European Commission had asked Croatia to
postpone the use of a protected ecological and fishing zone in the Adriatic Sea.

Slobodna Dalmacija daily published a copy of what it called a "secret"
document corroborating its earlier report that the European Commission
had asked Croatia to postpone the use of a protected ecological and
fishing zone in the Adriatic Sea.#L#
The newspaper reported on Thursday that the European Commission had
asked Croatian diplomats to postpone the application of the decision
proclaiming a protected ecological and fishing zone, due to enter into
force in October. The report was denied by the Croatian Foreign
Ministry the same day.
The daily published a copy of a document sent to the Foreign Ministry,
in which Croatian Ambassador to the UN Mirjana Mladineo reported on
talks with the Director General of the European Commission's Foreign
Affairs Department, Enek Landaburu, who advised that "the application
of the decision best be postponed in order to avoid tensions."
The fact that the words were put in quotation marks led Slobodna
Dalmacija to conclude that it was a quote from Landaburu.
