The European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and
Defence Policy, Javier Solana, and External Relations Commissioner
Chris Patten are due to visit the province on Wednesday. They are
expected to meet the most senior local and international officials.
Solana has expressed deep concern about last week's events, saying
that five years ago the international community intervened to rescue
ethnic Albanians in Kosovo and that it is unacceptable that now they
are doing the things others did to them then.
International police in Kosovo have said they have arrested 163 people
in connection with last week's clashes.
