memorial area of Jasenovac.#L#
"It reminds me of Willy Brandt's statement seeking forgiveness from
the Jewish people for the crimes committed during the period of
National Socialism in Germany," Singer told the news agency Beta on
Wednesday. "If the Croatian prime minister was as sincere as Brandt
was, I can only have a positive opinion of the visit," Singer said.
Unlike Singer, a member of the Roma World Parliament, Dragoljub
Ackovic, told Beta that Sanader's visit to Jasenovac was no more than
an act of courtesy and an "attempt to score political points with the
aim of drawing closer to Europe". The vice-president of the Serbian
Radical Party, Tomislav Nikolic, said Sanader's visit was "hypocrisy
and an act serving self-promotion".
The vice-president of the Socialist Party of Serbia of Slobodan
Milosevic, Milorad Vucelic, said that Sanader's visit was a "gesture
worthy of respect".
