Stephens said the US would support the Croatian government in turning words into deeds, Voice of America reported. Asked whether the three countries that signed the Adriatic Charter -- Croatia, Albania and Macedonia -- would be assessed as a group on their path to NATO, Stephens said the Charter was not a substitute for warm relations the US has with each of the three countries, the radio said. The purpose of the Adriatic Charter is to help the countries in meeting conditions for NATO membership, but that does not mean that the progress of each country will be measured against their joint achievement, Voice of America cited Stephens as saying.
