ZAGREB HOSTS LECTURE ON INDEPENDENCE OF JOURNALISTS IN GERMANY

ZAGREB, March 16 (Hina) - The independence of journalists in Germany was the topic of a lecture the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organised in Zagreb on Tuesday.#L# The lecture was held by Walter Bajohr, head of the foundation's Communications and Media Office and former spokesman for the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union club of deputies in the German parliament. Bajohr said independence of the media was one of the fundamental rights that was guaranteed by Germany's federal constitution. He went on to say that freedom of the media depended on legislation as well as journalists' awareness that they have to do their job conscientiously and responsibly because their actions help shape political culture and public opinion.
