According to a press release which the Foreign Office issued on its
web site on Thursday, British Minister for Europe Denis MacShane
welcomed the decision of generals Cermak and Markac to go voluntarily
to The Hague.
"They are setting an example which I hope General Gotovina will
follow. When he does, the door to Europe will at last be able to open
fully to Croatia. To this end, I call on the Government of Croatia to
fulfil its international obligations and co-operate fully with the
Hague Tribunal," read the press release.
