ZAGREB, March 5 (Hina) - Gordan Bakota, a state secretary at the Croatian Foreign Ministry, on Friday visited the Italian region of Molise where he met members of the Croatian community and the heads of three Croat-inhabited
municipalities.

Croatian Foreign Ministry, on Friday visited the Italian region of
Molise where he met members of the Croatian community and the heads of
three Croat-inhabited municipalities.#L#
The three municipalities are Kruc (Aquaviva Collecroce), Stifilic (San
Felice) and Mundimitro (Montemitro).
The talks looked into the possibility of economic and cultural
cooperation in order to establish closer ties between the Croatian
minority in Molise and Croatia, a statement from the Foreign Ministry
said.
Bakota, who was accompanied by Croatia's honorary consul in the
region, Antonio Sammartino, said that the Croatian government
dedicated great attention to Croatian communities abroad, particularly
in the Molise region. He added that the Croatian minority had been
living there for five centuries and that it had managed to preserve
the awareness of its national origin.
Bakota announced that a Croatian consulate would soon be established
in Mundimitro with Sammartino at its head, the statement said.
