TIH SAYS REWARDING AFFIRMATIVE REPORTING UNACCEPTABLE

ZAGREB, March 3 (Hina) - Transparency International Croatia (TIH) said on Wednesday that the idea of rewarding reporters for affirmative reporting about the work of the Croatian Health Insurance Agency (HZZO), presented by a member of the HZZO administrative council at an informal news conference last week, was completely unacceptable.
ZAGREB, March 3 (Hina) - Transparency International Croatia (TIH) said on Wednesday that the idea of rewarding reporters for affirmative reporting about the work of the Croatian Health Insurance Agency (HZZO), presented by a member of the HZZO administrative council at an informal news conference last week, was completely unacceptable.#L# "Such an initiative, regardless of the way it was presented, is completely unacceptable because it questions the objectivity of the media, which is one of the basic preconditions for the prevention of corruption in all segments of society," TIH said in a statement. One of the best ways for bodies and institutions of state administration to establish a good cooperation with the media is to make their work transparent, thus ensuring objective reporting. A positive or a negative tone in reporting depends mostly on how good a body or an institution works to the benefit of citizens, reads the statement signed by TIH president Zorislav Antun Petrovic. TIH welcomes going public with the proposal to reward journalists for affirmative reporting as it represents a very important piece of information on the way of thinking of the leadership of the HZZO, one of the most important institutions in the country, the statement said.
