SANADER SAYS HE GUARANTEES PROPERTY RIGHTS OF SERB REFUGEES

BELGRADE, March 1 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader has told Belgrade's Radio B92 that he personally guarantees the property rights of all refugees and that his government is considering solutions to the problem of recognition of the tenancy rights of Croatian Serb refugees.#L# In an exclusive interview with Radio B92, which will be aired fully on Tuesday morning, Sanader said that the problem of tenancy rights was complex, but he believed that it could be solved by the end of June, by which time Croats occupying Serb flats and houses have to move out. "One of the problems is that we cannot throw those people out in the street either," Sanader said. "Property rights are indisputable. All those who own a house or a flat have the right (to their property) and the Croatian government will provide conditions for their return, but at the same time - and this is new in our approach - we will provide accommodation for Croats who are occupying those buildings, flats and houses, as we cannot allow their ending up in the street. That is a humanitarian issue," the prime minister said. "Just as unquestionable the issue of property is, and I will not allow anyone to challenge that right, so is the need to provide alternative accommodation for those people," Sanader said.
