The maritime domain, as public property, is regulated by law and
cannot be sold, Bacic said.
In this context, he also announced amendments to the Law on Islands.
However, the amendments will not challenge the right of domestic and
foreign physical and legal persons to acquire property under certain
conditions, but are aimed at protecting public good by ensuring that
the government learns of such transactions on time, Bacic said. This
way, the government will be able to react on time and exercise the
right of pre-emptive buying, which will require allocating budgetary
funds for that purpose in advance, he added.
Zdravko Livakovic, state secretary for development, said development
projects would require 853 million kuna of this year's budgetary
funds, a 22 percent increase in relation to last year.
