ZAGREB, March 1 (Hina) - Croatia's President Stjepan Mesic on Monday signed a book of condolence which Macedonia's Embassy in Zagreb opened after last Thursday's tragedy in which Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski was
killed.

President Mesic put in the book that the death of President
Trajkoviski "is a great blow to the friendly people of Macedonia" but
that his work would have permanent effects.
"We were close friends and we worked on the same task, i.e. the
promotion of democracy and peace in the region," Mesic wrote.
Trajkovski and another eight people aboard a plane died when it
crashed into a hill in southern Bosnia-Herzegovina, They were to
attend an international business conference in Mostar.
