sector and internal auditing.#L#
The PIFC, which was presented in Zagreb on Friday, is being carried
out in Croatia by the Finance Ministry and the European Commission
within the CARDS programme, and its implementation is financially
supported by the European Union.
The project was presented by the head of the European Commission
Delegation in Croatia, Jacques Wunenberger, to some 150 Croatian and
foreign experts who gathered in Zagreb to be acquainted with the
PIFC.
Ambassador Wunenberger said this was the first project of this kind to
be implemented in Croatia and that it was support to the Croatian
government as this was important for every public administration that
would like to adjust itself to EU standards.
The project, whose two-year implementation is financed by the EU with
1.38 million euros, was launched in October 2003. The Croatian
ministry's working group and an international consortium headed by the
French SOFRECO and the British Helm-Corporation Ltd. are in charge of
its operational implementation.
