SKOPLJE, Feb 26 (Hina) - The death of President Boris Trajkovski is a great loss for Macedonia, Macedonian Prime Minister Branko Crvenkovski said on Thursday afternoon upon his return from Ireland, calling for national unity in the
current difficult situation for the country.

"I am confident that Macedonia will confirm its democratic maturity
and high social awareness in these tragic circumstances," Crvenkovski
said in an address to the nation. He added that state institutions
would continue to function normally and responsibly in line with the
constitution and laws.
The Macedonian prime minister, who was to submit his country's request
for membership in the EU in Dublin today, offered his condolences to
the families of President Trajkovski and his associates.
He said that he would meet tomorrow with the leaders of all political
parties, of whom he expected to act responsibly and contribute to
overcoming the current situation.
