BELGRADE, Feb 18 (Hina) - The trial of the group accused of the assassination of Serbian Premier Zoran Djindjic was again interrupted on Wednesday after lawyers of the accused Dusan Krsmanovic walked out of the main hearing saying they were dissatisfied with the manner in which the president of the panel of judges of the special court for the fight against organised crime was conducting the trial.
BELGRADE, Feb 18 (Hina) - The trial of the group accused of the assassination of Serbian Premier Zoran Djindjic was again interrupted on Wednesday after lawyers of the accused Dusan Krsmanovic walked out of the main hearing saying they were dissatisfied with the manner in which the president of the panel of judges of the special court for the fight against organised crime was conducting the trial.#L# Lawyers Miroslav Todorovic and Mirko Tripkovic reiterated their insistence on the exemption of Judge Marko Kljajevic who is presiding over the panel of judges in the case, as he turned down a request for the medical re-examination of their client Krsmanovic. Doctors have already established that Krsmanovic is fit for trial, but his lawyers insist on his being examined again, which may last one to three months. In addition, the lawyers asked that proceedings against their client be discontinued. After the two lawyers walked out of the courtroom, Judge Kljajevic labelled their behaviour as obstruction of the main hearing and an attempt to prevent the functioning of the court. He fined them with five thousand dinars (approx. 70 euros) and announced that he would inform Serbia's Bar Association of today's developments. The main hearing will resume tomorrow. (Hina) ms sb
