The Croatian government has called the elections for February 15,
namely additional and repeated elections for members of councils and
representatives of national minorities in units of local self-rule and
additional elections in legislative bodies of local authorities, reads
a press release issued by the government's public relations office.
"On this occasion I call on as many representatives of national
minorities as possible to turn out to vote and cast ballots for
candidates who enjoy their confidence. By going to the polls you will
exercise your democratic right and also do your duty as citizens and
take part, responsibly and conscientiously, in the functioning of
executive bodies in your community and society," Sanader was quoted by
the press release as saying.
It is in the interest of the Croatian government and all citizens to
see that at the coming elections candidates are elected who will
promote the ways of life and values of all ethnic minorities in
Croatia, Sander said, adding that it is therefore important that the
turnout be very high so that voters can influence the political life
in their community in a responsible manner.
