ZAGREB, Feb 5 (Hina) - Denmark fully supports Croatia in its efforts to join the European Union and NATO, Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moeller said after talks with his Croatian counterpart Miomir Zuzul in Copenhagen on
Thursday.

"Croatia is making good progress and this good conversation with Mr
Zuzul has given me reason to believe that (Croatia) will be able to
join the European Union and NATO," Moeller said at a joint press
conference.
"Denmark is doing all it can to help Croatia enter the European
family, just as it is helping the entire Balkans through a new
programme of accession," he said, adding that his country would
continue providing support to the region. "That's very important,
because I can see disturbing signs in the Balkans," Moeller noted.
The Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement the two sides agreed
that good bilateral relations between Denmark and Croatia opened up
the possibility of enhancing cooperation further, particularly in the
economic sector, in which both Danish and Croatian business people
expressed strong interest.
The Danish foreign minister said that Croatia was the most stable
country in the region and a reliable partner with the firm democracy,
as shown by the recent election, the government's attitude towards
minorities and its involvement in promoting the return of refugees and
consistent respect for human rights, the statement said.
Zuzul and Moeller expressed identical views on the international fight
against terrorism, the statement said.
In the morning, during a meeting with the Croatian delegation in the
Danish parliament, the Chairman of the Committee for the European
Union, Claus Larsen-Jensen, and the Chairman of the Foreign Policy
Committee, Jens-Harald Madsen, also expressed Denmark's full support
for Croatia's EU and NATO membership bids.
In the afternoon, at the initiative of the Croatian Red Cross, Zuzul
presented Prince Henrik of Denmark with the High Order of Queen Jelena
with Sash and the Morning Star for his outstanding assistance to
Croatia during its 1991-1995 war of independence.
