The minister made the statement at a ceremony marking the fifth
anniversary of the Croatian Land Forces' command centre for training.
Asked about the possibility of deploying Croatian troops to Iraq and
increasing the number of Croatian troops in Afghanistan, the minister
said that the armed forces would be ready to carry out the task if a
political decision on that was adopted.
Commenting on yesterday's visit of US Secretary of Defence Donald
Rumsfeld to Croatia, Roncevic said the United States understood
Croatia's position and did not present any ultimatums. The US side has
given us the possibility to find the best possible solution on our own
and the government will consider this, he said.
