The chief of the Border Veterinary Inspection Service, Gordan Jerbic,
told Hina on Friday that the order had been issued on January 26 and
published in the Official Gazette.
The ban applies to the import and transit of live poultry and poultry
products originating from countries that have reported cases of bird
flue, including Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and China.
Jerbic said that Croatia had not imported poultry and poultry products
from those countries over the last few years, and that the order had
been issued as a precaution.
He added that the Veterinary Department was monitoring the situation
and would lift or broaden the ban depending on developments.
