Mesic was accompanied by Defence Minister Berislav Roncevic and the
military chief of staff, General Josip Lucic.
The 50 military police, including three women, are the third Croatian
contingent in ISAF. The second contingent, which began the mission in
Kabul last August, are returning this month.
Mesic told the third contingent at Zagreb's Croatia barracks that
their predecessors had done a good job and that he expected the same
of them.
The President said the Croatian army's war experience was a big
advantage in missions of this kind.
Defence Minister Roncevic promised he would visit the third contingent
in Kabul.
