provide argumented criticism of everything the ruling Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) proposes, SDP Presidency member Mato Crkvenac

The HDZ is still on the level of proclamations and gestures and less
on that of direct realisation, he said, but applauded the support the
government gave the Brijuni-Rivijera Project yesterday.
Asked if yesterday's talks between Istria County prefect Ivan Jakovcic
and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader might disturb relations in the
coalition of the SDP and Jakovcic's Istrian Democratic Assembly,
Crkvenac said that meeting had been economic and not political given
that the county delegation had comprised solely business people and
local officials.
Jakovcic told a news conference today that yesterday's meeting between
Istria County representatives and Sanader and members of his cabinet
had been exclusively economic in nature and that there had been no
"political bargaining".
