This weekend Grdesic was the guest of honour at an event at which the
Croat population of Los Angeles celebrated the holiday of St. Vlaho,
the patron saint of southern Croatia's Dubrovnik. The event was
organised by the Libertas Foundation.
In San Francisco on Friday, Grdesic delivered a speech at Berkley
University's Goldman School of Public Policy focusing on Croatia's
transition to market economy and democracy and the country's road to
the EU and NATO.
The International Diplomacy Council of San Francisco staged a
reception at which the ambassador addressed the diplomatic corps
speaking about the main goals of Croatia's foreign policy.
Grdesic presented the president of the Roots of Peace humanitarian
organisation, Heidi Kuhn, with a replica of the Dove of Vucedol as a
symbol of gratitude for her contribution to demining in Croatia.
