Maric came into the media limelight last year when UEFA investigator Robin Boksic questioned him in Zagreb over the scandal. According to UEFA, he was interviewed both as a suspect and witness regarding the possible fixing of the first game of the 2009 Croatian Cup's finals.
After that, the Croatian Football Federation's (HNS) disciplinary board met to discuss the material obtained from UEFA regarding the match, concluding that there were no grounds to launch disciplinary proceedings against Maric.
Meanwhile, Boksic was fired by UEFA, and the UEFA disciplinary commission's head, Peter Limacher, resigned.
Maric and his lawyer Vladimir Gredelj told a news conference in Zagreb on Wednesday that they would sue UEFA if it failed to provide evidence against Maric or apologise to him in the next ten days.
The lawyer said that the accusations from UEFA had discredited his client as a person and a football referee.
