ZAGREB, Jan 30(Hina) - Croatia's parliament endorsed the government's motion that the law on Value Added Tax be amended so as to cut the current 22-percent rate to 20 percent and to enact the amended law as of 1 January 2005.
ZAGREB, Jan 30(Hina) - Croatia's parliament endorsed the government's motion that the law on Value Added Tax be amended so as to cut the current 22-percent rate to 20 percent and to enact the amended law as of 1 January 2005.#L# The government's proposal thus underwent the first parliamentary reading and should be considered one more time to be finally adopted. The majority of MPs gave the green light to the government's proposal on amending three relevant laws so as to enable mothers who give birth to the third or every next child to be on three-year maternity leave. The amendments to the Labour Law, the Health Protection Law and the law regulating maternity leave of self-employed and unemployed mothers were proposed and endorsed in the first reading. The Ivo Sanader Cabinet was given the task to elaborate a comprehensive strategy for raising the child birth rate and propose it in three months' time, and to draw up the package of relevant acts in one year's time.
