ZAGREB, Jan 28(Hina) - Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said on Wednesday it was good that former Croatian Serb rebels' leader Milan Babic had pleaded guilty to the charges the war crimes tribunal in The Hague had brought against

"Now we have one more proof against those who would like to
reinterpret recent history," Sanader said after talks with President
Stjepan Mesic.
According to Mesic, the only positive aspect of the whole thing is
that Babic is the first to have apologised for the crimes he committed
against Croats in the self-style Krajina state.
He recalled meeting Babic only once, in Belgrade, and telling him on
that occasion that no other state but Croatia would exist on Croatia's
territory, that everything he was doing he was doing to his detriment,
and that if he meant well for Serbs in Croatia he should come to
Zagreb for negotiations.
Mesic said he told Babic that the Serb leaders were deceiving him and
that once the war was over, he would not have even a dentist's office
in Croatia, let alone a state. "Babic told me he would do everything
to have a state and that he would have it," he recalled.
