ZAGREB, Jan 27(Hina) - Members of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences (HAZU), Radoslav Katicic and August Kovacec, on Tuesday gave lectures on the standard Croatian language and its position in relation to globalisation
trends.

Sciences (HAZU), Radoslav Katicic and August Kovacec, on Tuesday gave
lectures on the standard Croatian language and its position in
relation to globalisation trends.#L#
Participants in the event, which was held at the HAZU, warned that in
big Western countries Croatian was still being taught together with
the Serbian language, and criticised Croatian diplomats and
politicians visiting those countries for not doing anything in that
regard.
This attitude of the state could cost us dearly, we may be admitted
into the European Union without our own language, namely without the
name of our own language, Kovacec said.
