STOCKHOLM/ZAGREB, Jan 26(Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul in Stockholm on Monday pointed to the need for establishing mechanisms for early alarm signs and the prevention of armed conflicts, ethnic cleansing and genocide.
Zuzul hailed UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's efforts and the establishment of the International Criminal Court, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

in Stockholm on Monday pointed to the need for establishing mechanisms
for early alarm signs and the prevention of armed conflicts, ethnic
cleansing and genocide. Zuzul hailed UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's
efforts and the establishment of the International Criminal Court, the
Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.#L#
Zuzul said this the speech he delivered at the international
conference on the prevention of genocide called "Stockholm
International Forum 2004", which started in Sweden's capital on Monday
in the presence of Swedish King Carl Gustav XVI, Prime Minister Goran
Persson, Kofi Annan and some 50 heads of state and prime ministers,
the statement said.
Zuzul said that at meetings he held since he stepped into office a
month ago he stressed Croatia's dedication to full cooperation with
the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
Apart from participating in the conference, Zuzul held two bilateral
meetings. He discussed Croatia's cooperation with the ICTY and U.S.
support to that cooperation with U.S. Ambassador for war crimes issues
Pierre Richard Prosper.
The meeting with Lithuanian PM Algirdas Brauzauskas confirmed the two
countries' excellent bilateral relations. Prime Minister Brauzauskas
announced a possibility of opening a Lithuanian Embassy in Zagreb, the
statement said.
