On January 1 all entity defence laws will go out of force and the entity will no longer have a defence ministry and an army.
The constitutional law was adopted as part of the Bosnian defence reform, which starts on January 1 and envisages the establishment of a single defence ministry and a single army on the state level.
Under the amendments, Republika Srpska no longer has the authority to regulate defence issues and the entity president to approve that military units assist civilian authorities in natural disasters.
Members of the Republika Srpska parliament also adopted a law repealing entity acts on defence and the army, and authorised entity Prime Minister Pero Bukejlovic to sign an agreement on the transfer of jurisdiction in defence from Republika Srpska to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
