Eurostat: Croatia's GDP per capita in 2004 half the EU average

ZAGREB/BRUSSELS, Dec 20 (Hina) - In 2004, Croatia was at the bottom ofa list rating European countries according to criteria of the GDP percapita in purchasing power standards, which is half the European Unionaverage, according to revised figures released on Tuesday by Eurostat,the Statistical Office of the European Union.
ZAGREB/BRUSSELS, Dec 20 (Hina) - In 2004, Croatia was at the bottom of a list rating European countries according to criteria of the GDP per capita in purchasing power standards, which is half the European Union average, according to revised figures released on Tuesday by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union.

In 2004, Gross Domestic Product per capita in purchasing power standards in Croatia amounted to 46 percent of the EU average, as against 2003 when it amounted to 45 percent.

GDP per capita in Luxembourg, expressed in terms of purchasing power standards, was more than twice the EU average, while Ireland was about 40 percent above the average, and the Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden and the United Kingdom around 20 percent above the average.

Finland, France and Germany recorded figures about 10 percent above the EU average, and Italy and Spain were at the level of the average.

Cyprus, Greece and Slovenia were about 20 percent below the EU average. Portugal, the Czech Republic and Malta were around 30 percent and Hungary about 40 percent below.

Slovakia, Estonia, Poland and Lithuania were around half the average, while Latvia was just below 45 percent of the EU average, Eurostat reported.
