Croatian army officer appointed head of UN military air operations in Liberia

ZAGREB, Dec 19 (Hina) - Major Goran Novoselic on Monday left Croatia for a year-long stint in the UN peace operation in Liberia, where he will head UN military air operations.

This is the first time a Croatian Armed Forces officer has been appointed to such a high post.

The Security Council resolution of September 2003 extended the UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) until 31 March next year. Croatian troops have participated in the mission since October 2003.
