ZAGREB, Nov 17 (Hina) - The trial of former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic, who felt sick during a hearing on Wednesday, has been adjourned until Monday, the spokesman for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Jim Landale, said on Wednesday.

Milosevic was examined by a physician and the judges returned briefly to the courtroom to consider his report, after which they decided to adjourn the trial until Monday, Landale told Hina on the phone.

During a hearing on Tuesday, the 67-year-old Milosevic complained about having had serious health problems in the last two months and asked the trial chamber to be given a six-week break to rest. He cited a report by three specialists who examined him at his request on November 4 and established that his condition was unstable and that complications were possible. The doctors recommended that he rest for six weeks in order for his condition to stabilise.

Milosevic suffers from left ventricular hypertrophy and high blood pressure, as a result of which his trial has been interrupted more than 20 times.

Milosevic is charged with 66 counts of genocide, crimes against humanity, violations of the laws and customs of war, and grave breaches of the Geneva conventions over his role in the 1990s wars in Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo, which claimed the lives of more than 200,000 people.
