Speaking to reporters after the talks, Sanader said that the meeting "reaffirmed the great progress in overall bilateral relations, both at both the political and economic level."
France, which has continually supported Croatia on its path to the EU, has decided to put at Croatia's disposal, and at its own cost, one of its most experienced diplomats, Guy Legras, to act as an adviser to Croatia during its EU accession talks, the prime minister said.
Legras served as director-general for agriculture and for external relations of the European Commission.
Sanader said that Croatia wanted to complete the accession talks in time for elections for the European Parliament in 2009, which the French president supported.
Both parties expressed a desire for stronger economic ties between the two countries, with Sanader calling on French investors to come to Croatia.
Later in the day the Croatian prime minister was scheduled to meet French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy and deliver a talk on Croatia's EU membership bid.
