ZAGREB, Oct 13 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on
Thursday received his Italian counterpart Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, who had arrived
in Zagreb to attend a summit of heads of Central European countries on Friday
and Saturday, the Office of the President said in a statement. Mesic
and Ciampi agreed that bilateral relations between Croatia and Italy were good
and said that the two countries were mostly interested in the protection and
preservation of the Adriatic Sea.
The talks also focused on the situation in Southeast Europe and
Croatia's path to full membership of the European Union, the statement said.
