NEW YORK, Sept 21 (Hina) - The development of undeveloped countries is crucial for the strengthening of global security because utter poverty facilitates the surfacing of the main security issue -- terrorism, Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said on Tuesday.

She was addressing an annual meeting of foreign ministers of non-aligned countries which took place on the fringes of the UN General Assembly's 60th session.

The Croatian minister said global development must be viewed as the main objective, and that terrorism was a negation of freedom and the fundamental human right to life.

Noting that the non-aligned movement was established to advocate the rights of states and peoples to live in freedom and peace and cooperate in development, Grabar-Kitarovic said this year's General Assembly tackled the same goals -- development, multilateralism, the adoption of the positive and rejection of the negative aspects of globalisation, and reforms necessary to strengthen security and fight terrorism.

Grabar-Kitarovic said the final document on UN development, security and reform adopted last week was only partly satisfactory.

She offered her counterparts from non-aligned countries Croatia's experience in post-conflict reconstruction and peace operations around the world.
