Ilarija told reporters that Commissioner Carty sent a letter to Republika Srpska Interior Minister Darko Matijasevic warning him that organising a series of news conferences at which data on alleged crimes against Serbs were cited only jeopardised the confidentiality of investigations and prevented police and investigators from carrying out their tasks professionally.
Matijasevic received a similar warning last week from the Office of the High Representative and was given time until September 21 to comment on his statements in which he revealed information concerning ongoing investigations.
The statements include claims that during the war in Bosnia 10,000 Serbs were killed in Sarajevo alone, for which no evidence was provided.
International organisations in Bosnia-Herzegovina believe that such behaviour is part of a political campaign preventing investigators from doing their job.
Along with revealing information on persons who could be indicted for war crimes against Bosnian Serbs, officials of the Serb entity ministry of the interior have been recently presenting reporters with various propaganda materials treating them as evidence of continued activities of Islamic terrorists in the country.
