ZAGREB, Sept 8 (Hina) - The newly-appointed Romanian Ambassador to Croatia, Oana-Cristina Popa, presented her credentials to Croatian President Stjepan Mesic in Zagreb on Thursday.

"Over the past decade our two countries have developed excellent bilateral relations in all areas, pursuing economic changes and successfully cooperating in regional and multilateral organisations and initiatives," Popa said at a ceremony.

Popa said that Romania appreciated the progress Croatia had made on its path to membership of the European Union and NATO and considered it a reliable partner in the region and beyond. She added that her mission was to further promote and develop cooperation between the two countries.

Mesic said that Croatia wanted to continue the good cooperation with Romania in the interests of both countries.

"Our common interest is the stability of Southeast Europe. Romania has always been able to recognise the efforts by Croatia to calm the situation in the region and its initiatives to ensure the lasting stability of the region," Mesic said.
