Croatia could benefit from the possible victory of the Christian Democrats at the forthcoming early parliamentary elections in Germany, Sanader said after the meeting.
"Although the relations between Germany and Croatia are excellent, regardless of who is in power, Croatia will profit in case the Christian Democrats win the forthcoming elections," the Croatian premier said.
He added that the SPD government led by Gerhard Schroeder supported Croatia, but recently it was not to an extent which Croatia wanted it to be.
"Perhaps we have expected a little more from the government in Berlin over recent months," Sanader said.
In his capacity as the leader of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Sanader called on Croats in Germany to vote for the CDU-CSU union at the forthcoming elections.
On Saturday, Sanader is expected to meet Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel on the margins of the Nuremberg convention.
