PM Sanader told reporters that Chancellor Schuessel was on an unofficial visit to Croatia at his invitation.
There are no outstanding issues between the two countries whose relations have been continually good, regardless of their governments, he said.
"The fact that in January 2006 Austria will start chairing the EU is very important for us and I hope that by that time we will be given the green light for the start of accession talks. We don't want the EU to become divided over Croatia. I have presented the Action Plan which is being implemented well and I expect the EU to soon approve the start of the talks with Croatia," Sanader said, thanking Chancellor Schuessel for his continued support to Croatia.
The Austrian official too pointed to the very good cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economy and culture. He said that a large number of Austrians were visiting Croatia, but that efforts should be invested to increase that number. He promised to see to it that his country increased investment in Croatia, adding that the door should be opened to Croatia in all areas because it was a factor of stability and peace-building in the region.
Schuessel agreed with Sanader that there were no problems in relations between the two countries.
PM Sanader and Schuessel will attend a friendly soccer match between Croatia and Brazil's national teams in Split this evening. The match will also be attended by Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic.
