PLOCE, Aug 14 (Hina) - The eighth 22.5-kilometre marathon race ofbarges along the Neretva river was held on Saturday under the auspicesof the Croatian President Stjepan Mesic. The winner of this year'smarathon which pooled 41 crews
with over 500 rowers, coxes anddrummers, was a barge team from the village of Rogotin near the townof Ploce.
PLOCE, Aug 14 (Hina) - The eighth 22.5-kilometre marathon race of
barges along the Neretva river was held on Saturday under the auspices of the
Croatian President Stjepan Mesic. The winner of this year's marathon which
pooled 41 crews with over 500 rowers, coxes and drummers, was a barge team from
the village of Rogotin near the town of Ploce. The start of the
regatta was in the southern town of Metkovic and the final destination was the
southern seaport of Ploce.
Over 50,000 people, including tops state officials, President Mesic and
Sabor Speaker Vladimir Seks, attended this popular festivity along the Neretva
River.
